$5,709,457.69 Trust Fund Recovery Penalty Reversed to $0
The IRS assessed the Trust Fund Recovery Penalty against Taxpayer in an attempt to hold Taxpayer personally liable for payroll tax debt owed by a separate corporation. DeWitt Law represented Taxpayer before the IRS to challenge the assessment, resulting in reversal of the assessment to $0. Learn more.
$1,420,838 Tax Liability Reversed to $0 in U.S. Tax Court
Taxpayer was audited by the IRS after a third-party cryptocurrency exchange reported to the IRS gross proceeds the Taxpayer received from selling cryptocurrency. The IRS proposed additional tax of $1,095,708 plus penalties of $219,142 and interest of $105,988. DeWitt Law represented the Taxpayer and challenged the assessment in U.S. Tax Court. The Court reversed the assessment in full, resulting in $0 of additional tax owed.
$370,750.8 Tax Assessment Reversed to $0 in U.S. Tax Court
Taxpayer was audited by the IRS for tax year 2016. The IRS issued a Notice of Deficiency and assessed additional tax of $370,750.80. DeWitt Law represented the Taxpayer and challenged the tax assessment in U.S. Tax Court. The assessment was reversed and the Taxpayer owed $0 in additional tax.
$172,959 CP2000 Assessment Reduced to $0 in U.S. Tax Court
Taxpayer received IRS Notice CP2000 proposing additional tax of $172,959, based on income reported to the IRS on Form 1099-S from the sale of Taxpayer's home. DeWitt Law represented Taxpayer and challenged the proposed assessment with the IRS. The IRS never responded and issued a Statutory Notice of Deficiency. After litigating the assessment in U.S. Tax Court, it was reversed to $0.
$280,626.46 Tax Liability Reduced to $2,000 through Offer in Compromise
Taxpayer owed the IRS $280,626.46 in unpaid income taxes. DeWitt Law represented Taxpayer before the IRS and filed an Offer in Compromise (Doubt as to Collectability). After the IRS initially rejected the Offer, DeWitt Law filed an administrative appeal and represented Taxpayer through multiple appeals proceedings. The IRS accepted the Offer, reducing the total tax owed to $2,000.
Florida Sales Tax Evasion Case Resolved Through Diversion
Represented Taxpayer in criminal investigation by the Florida Department of Revenue for alleged sales tax evasion. Investigation closed and no criminal charges filed.
Field Audit Resulting in No Additional Tax
